Local Redeveloper Does Infill Project

Mark C. Zweig, a Fayetteville redeveloper who normally rebuilds old homes in Fayetteville's historic districts from the ground up, is venturing out and building a new home at 305 E. Maple Street. Being built on a 4900 square-foot lot carved off the back of his latest project--and 1888 stone house being completely reconstructed-- at 432 N. Willow Ave, this 1375 square foot, two bedroom, one and a half bath bungalow is being built with the highest concern for detail and quality that will compliment the style and aesthetics of the neighborhood. As an infill development, this new home fits in well with the 2025 Fayetteville Master plan. The plan, approved in July 2006, encourages a traditional town structure and infill, while discouraging urban sprawl.

Prior to the construction of 305 E. Maple Street, 432 N. Willow Ave sat on a large corner lot with a sprawling back yard contained by a high stockade fence. “The hole in the neighborhood looked like a tooth missing,” said Mark Zweig. Small, high quality new construction houses are virtually unknown in downtown Fayetteville, but what’s really special about this property is the special attention to design and choice of materials. The house has a trellised front porch with stone knee walls and a stone planter, a back patio, a large living area with an all stone fireplace, an open dining area that links to the kitchen, a breakfast room alcove in a window bay, pleanty of storage, and natural light in every room. Mark Zweig assures that “nothing like this and of this quality has been built in Fayetteville in more than 75 years.”
